Jedrzejek Dominates Reed’s Salvage Night at Sandusky

                                                                       By Chris Meyers
The storyline of 2008 at Sandusky Speedway was Timmy Jedrzejek and Charlie Schultz both
dominating the northcoast home for supermodifieds. Tonight, the storyline was no different.
Twenty-one PPG Vibrance Collection Midwest supermodifieds and a packed grandstand were
on hand for Reed’s Salvage night at the half-mile oval.

On the pace laps of the thirty lap main event, rookie driver and current MSA points leader Trent
Stephens wasn’t able to get the ACME Racing machine fired. He took the machine to the pits and
a broken rear end was discovered, ending his night before the green flag even flew. The Fisher
duo of Denny and son Brandon led the field to the green flag with the caution quickly flying for a
spin for Jon Henes in turn one. Gene Lee Gibson came out of the deal on the short end with front
end damage. On the restart Denny Fisher would take the lead with Bobby Dawson settling
behind him. Tim Ice, who started 8th, was up to 3rd by lap three. Jedrzejek and Ice were battling
for third when contact was made between the two sending Ice for a spin in turn four. Ice would
rejoin the field at the tail end.

Denny Fisher led Dawson, Jedrzejek, Schultz, and Brandon Fisher to the green once again.
Jedrzejek and Schultz each would pick off Dawson on the restart. Jedrzejek motored his way by
Fisher for the lead on lap 11.  Two laps later, Schultz would pick off Fisher for the second spot
and the drag race was on between Schultz and Jedrzejek. Schultz would get a wheel under
Jedrzejek on lap sixteen, but the caution would fall for contact between Jack Smith and Jim
Paller in turn four. At this point, Tim Ice and Smith would both go to the pits and would not
return. Jedrzejek led Schultz, Denny Fisher, Dawson, and Mark Sammut to the green flag.
Dawson would jockey himself into a top three spot by pulling a great pass on Fisher on lap
twenty-three. Randy Burch worked his way into the top five by getting around Sammut on
twenty-five. Burch also got around Fisher but that pass was negated because the caution flew
for rookie Joe Armbruster who came to a halt in turn four. The top five stayed the same as
Schultz wasn’t able to challenge Jedrzejek the rest of the way.

While many teams, drivers, and cars struggle figuring out new racecars. The Reed’s Salvage
team and hot shoe Timmy J did not. In just its third race out, another brand new Allegresso
chassis ended up in victory lane once again.

Timmy J., a four-time MSA champion, was turning laps in the 14.2 bracket at the end of the
feature. Timmy was all smiles as he described this special win. “It’s a special win with it being
Reed’s Salvage night and Bobby is up here in winner’s lane. It’s really nice to see both of our
cars here on the frontstretch here after the races. I can’t say enough about this new car. We got a
win here tonight and it’s just a really good car thanks to Reed‘s Salvage. How about PPG coming
back this year and supporting us? They are a first class organization and we’re really proud to
have them on our team (MSA). Thanks to all of our fans and we really appreciate you coming out
to watch tonight.”

Second place finisher Charlie Schultz was pleased with his second place run. He explained,
“The car setup we had underneath us took five or six laps to get going. I actually got a nose up
under his left rear coming out of two and then the caution came out. We didn’t have a long
enough green flag run to get back at him again. He was a little bit better on the initial restarts. I
can’t say enough about the guys who help me, Dave and Lori May for putting this whole deal
together for us. I just want to thank all of the fans for coming out and supporting us. We couldn’t
do this without you guys. I hope you guys come out and support us each and every race.”

Third place finisher Bobby Dawson finished 2008 up with strong podium finishes and ended up
on the podium once again. The South Amherst resident stated, “It was a real good race. The car
was really hooked up. I want to thank the Reeds for the racecar and everything. I’d like to thank
Eschtruth construction, Level Performance-what an awesome power plant, my crew, Stewart’s
appliance, and PPG Vibrance. I’m glad they are back on board with us. It was a good night for us”

Jedrzejek is now tied with Dave Shullick Jr. for the most all-time wins in MSA competition with
19. Earlier in the day, Schultz and Jedrzejek picked up exciting and entertaining heat race wins.
The PPG Vibrance Collection Midwest Supermodified Association will return to racing action for
an MSA-Oswego winged challenge series race at the Lorain County Speedway in South
Amherst, Ohio on Saturday June 20th, 2009.
